January News–Our Second Floor and a Name for the School!

Happy New Year!

Greetings from Our Liberian Staff!

Our Liberian staff has gathered together in this photo to offer their gratitude to God and to thank to you for the support and prayer you offer to this ministry on a daily basis.  Your generosity is leading positive change! It is with your help that CLTI is able

Our Liberian Staff

to bring positive change in the country of Liberia educationally, in women’s entrepreneurship opportunities, and in discipleship training for young adults.

More Cement, More Bricks, and a Start on the Second Floor

Seven hundred new bags of cement have just been delivered to the school construction site in Gompa, Liberia.  These bags of cement represent a giant step toward the next stage of construction—the second floor exterior and interior walls.  We plan on using approximately 300 bags to make the bricks, about 300 bags to make mortar, and we hope to have about 100 bags left to begin putting a final plaster coat on the walls of the first floor.  These are exciting days!

When the bricks are dry and fully hardened they are ready for use.

Fish Pond #5 Completed

More exciting news is that we have seen the completion of Fish Pond #5.  This is our largest fish pond to date, measuring about 50 feet by 110 feet.  The lay of the land in the ravine is the determining factor for the size of each pond, and Number 5 happens to be the biggest one yet. The fish are already thriving in the other four ponds, and we will be harvesting fish from Fish Pond #1 sometime in March.  We will take those fish to market, and that will be the first harvest which will help provide income to CLTI.  When that harvest begins, we will be there with photos and video for you, so watch for that exciting event in about 8 weeks.

Can You Help Us Name the School?

Finally, we can announce that it’s time for us to think about a name for the school.  Do canstockphoto39755994you have an idea?  We would love to hear what you think!  If you have an idea for the name of the school, please send an email to us at sbuor@cltinternational.org, or a message on the CLTI Facebook page.  We will consider each one carefully.  Please note that we are looking for one name for all of the three sections of the school—elementary, middle school, and high school.  Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

We are so grateful to God for the blessings we have received.  It’s because of your support that we are mentoring women, teaching young adults, and constructing a school that we know will change the course of Liberia’s future.  Please pray for us as we continue this journey.  We hope you will make a donation today.  You can donate by clicking on the”Donate” tab above, or by sending a check to CLTI, P. O. Box 1123, Carmel, IN 46082.  We can’t do it without you!
